Tech stocks slump, trim Sensex gains

Following extended correction in tech and other select counters, the Sensex has shed more gains and is now up 25 points at 7,781. The Nifty remains steady at 2,365 - up eight points.

Reliance (up Rs 15 or 2% to Rs 728) and Reliance Energy (up Rs 10 or 1.52% to Rs 642) are holding on to their gains. ITC is up 1.23% (Rs 21) at Rs 1,735. ONGC has shed more ground to Rs 951 - down Rs 14 or 1.50%.

HDFC Bank is steady with a gain of 1.51% (Rs 10) at Rs 686. SBI and ICICI Bank are down a per cent each at Rs 807 (down Rs 4) and Rs 514 (down Rs 3), respectively.

BHEL has appreciated by 4.16% (Rs 42) to Rs 1,064. L&T at Rs 1,336 (up Rs 45 or 3.46%), Hindalco at Rs 1,331 (up Rs 19 or 1.46%) and Tisco at Rs 383 (up Rs 15 or 4%) are trading on a firm note.

Infosys has tumbled 1.64% (Rs 39) to Rs 2,318, while Satyam has shed 1.90% (Rs 10) to Rs 534. TCS, too, is trading weaker at Rs 1,297, while Wipro is up with tepid gains at Rs 731.

Bajaj (up Rs 15 to Rs 1,530) has shed some gains due to profit-taking, while Tata Motors has declined 1.57% (Rs 8) to Rs 501.
