Shares of telecom services providers Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) and Reliance Communications were trading higher by up to 5% on the BSE in intra-day trade in otherwise range-bound market.
Bharti Airtel was up 5% to Rs 316 on BSE after the telecom major said Bharti Airtel International (Netherlands) BV through its wholly owned subsidiary has completed the acquisition of Econet Wireless' entire 4.2% stake in Airtel Nigeria.
As a result, Airtel's overall holding in Airtel Nigeria has increased to 83.25%, it added.
Among the other individual stocks, Idea Cellular was up 4% to Rs 76 followed by Reliance Communications (3% at Rs 36) and MTNL (4% at Rs 17.45) on BSE. The S&P BSE Sensex was down 0.05% at 26,304 points at 01:40 pm.
