Torrent Power rises 9 per cent

Torrent Power shares rose 9 per cent to Rs 214 after its Sugen plant entered commercial operation. The company has started commercial generation of electricity from the second unit of Sugen power plant (gas-based combined cycle power plant). With this, the installed capacity stands at 765 MW from the two units. The third unit is also expected to commence commercial operation during the quarter. The stock opened at Rs 193.5, the lowest point of the day and made an intraday high of Rs 215.7. The trading volumes stood at 13.37 lakh shares, about 2.5 times higher of its two-week average.
