Turmeric prices fell by 1.33% to Rs 5,950 per quintal at futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions following rains in producing regions amid a drop in overseas inquiries.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in September traded Rs 80, or 1.33%, lower at Rs 5,950 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,595 lots.

October turmeric fell by Rs 38, or 0.67%, to Rs 5,602 per quintal, with an open interest of 19,115 lots.

Marketmen said trimming of positions by speculators following rains in key growing regions and a fall in export demand kept pressure on turmeric prices at futures trade here.
