Turmeric prices fell by Rs 272 or 2.00 per cent to Rs 13,355 per quintal in futures trading today on profit booking by speculators at existing higher levels.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in August fell Rs 272, or 2 per cent to Rs 13,355 per quintal, with an open interest of 210 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in July contract declined by Rs 88, or 0.65 per cent to Rs 13,470 per quintal, with a business turnover of 2,790 lots.

While spice for delivery in June-month contract gained Rs 184, or 1.32 per cent to Rs 14,175 per quintal, with a business turnover of 12,480 lots.

Market analysts said profit taking by speculators and increased arrivals in the physical market pulled down turmeric prices at futures trade.
