Turmeric futures prices traded lower by Rs 46, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 14,430 per quintal in futures trading today, as speculators preferred to book profits at higher prices.

However, lower stocks in the physical market, capped losses.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, turmeric for delivery in August fell by Rs 46, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 14,430 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,115 lots.

The spice for July also declined by Rs 42, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 14,428 per quintal, with an open interest of 9,385 lots. It had ended 0.82 per cent higher at Rs 14,210 per quintal in the previous session.

Market analysts said profit-booking at higher prices by speculators led to a fall in turmeric prices at futures market here but lower stocks at the physical markets, restricted losses.
