Turmeric futures prices fell by Rs 33 or 0.22 per cent to Rs 14,999 per quintal today, as speculators booked profits after yesterday's gains.

However, low stocks and overseas enquiries capped losses in the spice prices at futures market here.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, turmeric for delivery in May fell Rs 33, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 14,999 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,400 lots.

The spice for delivery in June also declined by Rs 27, or 0.18 per cent to Rs 14,710 per quintal, with a business turnover of 10,780 lots.

Market analysts said emergence of profit booking at existing higher prices by speculators mainly led to a fall in turmeric prices but exports and domestic demand restricted losses.
