Turmeric prices fell by Rs 18 to Rs 9,350 per quintal in futures trade today as traders preferred to book profits after yesterday's gains.
Rising supplies from the new crop also kept some pressure on the turmeric futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in May fell by Rs 18, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 9,350 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,595 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in April lost Rs 4, or 0.04 per cent, to Rs 9,620 per quintal, with a business volume of 6,930 lots.
Analysts said the fall in futures prices of turmeric was mainly due to profit-booking by speculators after yesterday's strong rally and rising supplies from the producing region.
