Turmeric prices moved down by Rs 72 to Rs 7,292 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators booked profits, driven by subdued spot market demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for September delivery declined by Rs 72, or 0.98%, to Rs 7,292 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,385 lots.

Likewise, the spice for July delivery lost Rs 60, or 0.60%, to Rs 7,770 per quintal, with an open interest of 7,760 lots.

Analysts said profit-booking by speculators, subdued spot market demand mainly led to the fall in turmeric futures prices.
