Turmeric futures prices declined by Rs 54 to Rs 11,790 per quintal today, as speculators booked profits.

Estimates of higher production also put some pressure on the prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, turmeric for delivery in December fell by Rs 54, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 11,790 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,475 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in November declined by Rs 28, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 12,802 per quintal, with a business volume of 11,470 lots.

Market analysts said continued booking profits by speculators led to the fall in turmeric futures prices, while pick up in domestic demand, driven by festive season capped losses.
