Turmeric prices fell by Rs 42 to Rs 7,274 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators booked profits driven by weak trend at the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in June declined by Rs 42, or 0.57%, to Rs 7,274 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,955 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in June traded lower by Rs 38, or 0.52%, to Rs 7,308 per quintal, with a business turnover of 7,010 lots.
Market analysts said apart from profit booking by speculators, weak exports demand mainly led to the decline in turmeric futures prices.
