Turmeric futures prices fell by 0.37% to Rs 7,610 per quintal in futures trading today after speculators booked profits amid a weak trend at the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for July delivery fell by Rs 28, or 0.37%, to Rs 7,610 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,635 lots. It had ended 0.29% higher at Rs 7,638 per quintal.

Similarly, August contract for spice delivery declined by Rs 16, or 0.21%, to Rs 7,594 per quintal, with a trade turnover of 5,525 lots.

Analysts said emergence of profit-booking by speculators along with subdued demand in the spot market mainly led to the fall in turmeric futures prices.
