Turmeric prices gained Rs 42 to Rs 7,582 per quintal in futures trading today on fresh buying by traders but weak export demand restricted the gain.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in August gained Rs 42, or 0.56% to Rs 7,582 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,085 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in June rose by Rs 36, or 0.47% to Rs 7,650 per quintal in 7,800 lots.
Traders attributed the rise in turmeric futures prices to fresh buying by traders on pick-up in spot market demand.
Weak export demand restricted the gains to some extent, they added.
