Turmeric prices rose by Rs 78 to Rs 10,572 per quintal in futures trading today on rising demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in April rose by Rs 78, or 0.74%, to Rs 10,572 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,855 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in May edged up by Rs 16, or 0.16%, to Rs 9,762 per quintal, with a business turnover of 9,055 lots.

Market analysts said rising demand in the spot market against less supply mainly led to rise in turmeric futures prices.
