Turmeric prices rose by Rs 84 to Rs 14,290 per quintal in futures trade today, buoyed by pick up in spot demand.
However, hopes of good crops due to rain in growing regions, capped gains.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery September month rose by Rs 84, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 14,290 per quintal with an open interest of 2,375 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in August month moved up by Rs 50, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 14,440 per quintal in 7,945 lots.
Analysts said firming trend at the spot market on pick up in demand, led to rise in turmeric prices at futures trade.
