Turmeric prices moved up by Rs 40 to Rs 7,198 per quintal in futures trade today as traders created fresh positions, supported by better spot market trend.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for September delivery moved up by Rs 40, or 0.56% to Rs 7,198 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,930 lots.

Similarly, the spice for August delivery gained Rs 40, or 0.55%, to Rs 7,280 per quintal, with a trade volume of 8,125 lots.

Traders said fresh buying by traders on the back of pick-up in the spot market demand, mainly helped turmeric prices to trade higher at futures trade.
