Turmeric prices gained Rs 50 to Rs 9,728 per quintal in futures trade today on pick up in demand in the spot market.

A fall in arrivals from the producing region further fuelled the uptrend.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, turmeric for May delivery gained Rs 50, or 0.52 per cent to Rs 9,728 per quintal, with a business volume of 2,155 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in June traded higher by Rs 42, or 0.44 per cent to Rs 9,620 per quintal, with a business volume of 460 lots.

Analysts said pick up in demand at spot market, amid restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly led to the rise in turmeric prices at futures trade.
