Turmeric prices moved up by Rs 38 to Rs 5,244 per quintal in futures trade today due to rise in demand in the spot market.

However, expectations of a better crop due to favourable weather conditions in producing region restricted the gain.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, November turmeric moved up by Rs 38, or 0.73% to Rs 5,244 per quintal with an open interest of 3,855 lots.

The September contract edged up by Rs 18, or 0.36% to Rs 5,088 per quintal in 9,790 lots.

Analysts said pick up in demand in the spot market mainly led to rise in turmeric prices at futures trade here.
