Turmeric prices weakened by Rs 26 to Rs 7326 per quintal in futures trade today due to sluggish demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for October delivery declined by Rs 26, or 0.35%, to Rs 7,326 per quintal, with an open interest of 715 lots.

Similarly, the spice for August delivery shed Rs 4, or 0.06%, to Rs 7,230 per quintal, with business turnover of 7,660 lots.

Analysts attributed the decline in turmeric futures prices to sluggish demand in the spot markets against adequate stocks.
