Turmeric gain 0.6% on fall in supply

Prices moved up as speculators enlarged their positions

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Turmeric prices gained 0.62% to Rs 6,134 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, triggered by fall in supplies.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), the July contract gained Rs 38, or 0.62%, to Rs 6,134 per quintal in 12,195 lots.

The June contract edged up by Rs 36, or 0.60%, to Rs 6,032 per quintal in 23,855 lots.

Market analysts said the rise in turmeric prices at futures trade was attributed to fall in supplies from producing regions as farmers held back stocks in anticipation of further price rise in coming days.
