Turmeric gains 0.98% in futures trade on fresh buying

Turmeric prices rose by Rs 132 to Rs 13,640 per quintal in futures trade today on fresh buying by traders.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, turmeric for October month rose by Rs 132, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 13,640 per quintal with an open interest of 9820 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in November month edged up by Rs 72, or 0.58 per cent to Rs 12,446 per quintal in 6055 lots.

Marketmen said fresh buying by traders at existing lower level mainly pushed up jeera price in the futures trade.

They said reports that higher estimates of production, partly reduced the gains.
