Turmeric, jeera falls on sluggish demand

Turmeric and jeera prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today owing to sluggish demand from retailers and stockists.

Turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 11,400-16,400 per quintal. Jeera common and jeera best quality prices declined further by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 14,800-14,900 and Rs 16,800-16,900 per quintal, respectively.   

Market analysts said sluggish demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stockists pulled down the turmeric and jeera prices in the wholesale kirana market here.

Following are today's quotations in Rs per quintal:

Ajwain 17,500-23,000, black pepper common 28,200-28,500, betelnut (kg) 110-120, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,000-1,015, and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,120-1,270

 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 850-900, cardamom (colour robin) 900-920, cardamom bold 910-920, cardamom extra (bold) 1,070-1,100 and cloves (kg) 500-550
