Turmeric and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal each in the national capital today on fresh buying by stockists as well as exporters.

Tight positions in the market as stockists held back stocks in anticipations of better prices in coming days also influenced the prices. Turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 8,400-14,200 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also traded higher at Rs 14,200-14,400 and Rs 16,400-16,500 against previous closing of Rs 14,100-14,300 and Rs 16,300-16,400 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said sentiments turned better following pick-up in domestic and export demand against restricted arrivals mainly pushed up turmeric and jeera prices in the wholesale kirana market here.
