Turmeric, jeera rise on stockists buying support

Turmeric and jeera prices rose up to Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists, driven by rising domestic and export demand amid fall in supplies.

Turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 13,400-17,400 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality prices also increased by Rs 200 each to settle at Rs 15,300-15,500 and Rs 17,000-17,800 per quintal, respectively.   

Traders said increased buying by stockists on the back of pick up in domestic and export demand against fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly pushed up turmeric and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

Ajwain 16,000-21,000, black pepper common 23,100-23,300, betelnut (kg) 120-145, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,000-1,010, and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,100-1,300

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,000-1,020, cardamom (colour robin) 980-1,010, cardamom bold 1,000-1,030, cardamom extra (bold) 1,100-1,200 and cloves (kg) 330-430
