Turmeric, jeera rises on buying support

Turmeric and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists as well as exporters, amid a firm trend in futures trade.

Tight stocks position following fall in supplies from producing belts also influenced the prices. Turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 18,700-21,700 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality increased by Rs 100 each to Rs 13,300-13,500 and Rs 14,600-15,100 per quintal on encouraging advices from Unjha in Gujarat.

Traders said increased buying by stockists, following rising exporters demand, pushed up turmeric and jeera prices at the wholesale kirana market here.

They said fall in supplies from producing belts and a firm trend in spices at futures market, also aided improved trading sentiments.
