Turmeric, kalaunji fall on sluggish demand

Turmeric and kalaunji prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the wholesale kirana market today on sluggish demand against adequate stocks position.  

Traders said subdued demand against sufficient stocks position mainly led to a fall in wholesale turmeric and kalaunji prices. Turmeric fell by Rs 100 to Rs 15,500-16,000, while kalaunji traded lower by the same margin at Rs 8,600-9,500 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations in Rs per quintal:

Ajwain 10,000-15,000, black pepper common 16,400-16,500, betelnut (kg) 85-105, cardamom brown -Jhundiwali (kg) 570-575 and cardamom brown -Kanchicut (kg) 615-660.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1020-1,110, cardamom (colour robin) 1,135-1,150, cardamom bold 1,155-1,170, cardamom extra (bold) 1,225-1,250 and cloves (kg) 265-315.
