Turmeric prices fell by Rs 167, or 1.14 per cent to Rs 14,540 per quintal in futures trade today on continued profit booking by speculators at the existing higher levels.

On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, turmeric for delivery in May contract fell by Rs 167, or 1.14 per cent to Rs 14,540 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,060 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in June contract dipped by Rs 131, or 0.92 per cent to Rs 14,180 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,610 lots.

Market analysts said continued profit booking at existing higher prices by speculators and fall in demand led to a fall in the turmeric prices at futures market here.
