Turmeric rises on fresh buying

Turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on firming local demand due to the ongoing marriage season.

Restricted supplies from producing belts also supported the uptrend in prices. 

Turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 15,800-17,800 per quintal.

Traders said sentiments turned better following pick up in local demand for the marriage season.

Following are today's quotations in Rs per quintal: 

Ajwain 13,000-20,500, black pepper common 23,800-24,000, betelnut (kg) 120-145, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,040-1,050, and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,175-1,350

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,100-1,180, cardamom (colour robin) 1,150-1,170, cardamom bold 1,180-1,190, cardamom extra (bold) 1,300-1,320 and cloves (kg) 330-390
