Turmeric rises on fresh buying; tight supply

Turmeric prices rose by Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today on fresh buying by retailers and stockists on pick up in domestic and exports demand.

Tight stocks position in the market following restricted supplies also supported the upside.

Turmeric prices up by Rs 200 to settle at Rs 14,800- 18,100 per quintal.

Traders said sentiment turned better following rising domestic and export demand and firming trend at futures market.
     
Following are today's quotations (per quintal):
     
Ajwain 14,000-19,000, black pepper common 20,700-20,800 betelnut (kg) 85-105, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 675-700 and cardamom brown -Kanchicut (kg) 750-875.
     
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,210-1,310, cardamom (colour robin) 1,300-1,310, cardamom bold 1,320-1,330, cardamom extra (bold) 1,520-1,540 and cloves (kg) 310-375.
