Turmeric rises on fresh buying, tight supply

Turmeric prices rose Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today on fresh buying by retailers and stockists following pick up in domestic and exports demand. 

Turmeric prices went up by Rs 200 to settle at Rs 15,600 -18,400 per quintal. Traders said sentiment turned better following rising domestic and exports demand on account of festive and marriage season.

Besides, firming trend at futures market also influenced the turmeric prices on the wholesale kirana market.

Following are today's quotations (per quintal):

Ajwain 13,500-19,000, black pepper common 19,900-20,000 betelnut (kg) 86-107, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 740-750 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 825-975

 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 930-1,045, cardamom (colour robin) 1,025-1,040, cardamom bold 1,065-1,085, cardamom extra (bold) 1,225-1,245 and cloves (kg) 285-350
