Turmeric prices traded lower by Rs 62 to Rs 5,110 per quintal in futures trade today as traders reduced their positions due to subdued spot market demand.

Expectations of a better crop due to favourable weather in top producing states also put pressure on turmeric prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, December turmeric declined by Rs 62, or 1.20% to Rs 5110 per quintal with an open interest of 500 lots.

The November contract shed Rs 46, or 0.88% to Rs 5,180 per quintal in 3855 lots.

Analysts said subdued spot market demand against adequate stocks position mainly helped turmeric futures prices to trade lower.
