Turmeric prices traded higher by Rs 52 to Rs 4,668 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, supported by a better trend at spot markets due to rise in demand.
Estimates of a bumper crop, however, restricted the gain.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in May rose by Rs 52, or 1.13%, to Rs 4,668 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,105 lots.
April turmeric moved up by Rs 48, or 1.05%, to Rs 4,628 per quintal, with an open interest of 20,945 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in turmeric futures to fresh buying by speculators on rise in demand in the spot market.
