Turmeric futures for April gained Rs 136, or 2%, to Rs 6,940 per quintal in 615 lots.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX),the May contract traded higher by Rs 52, or 0.74%, to Rs 7,062 per quintal in 25,015 lots.
Prices rose as speculators enlarged their positions driven by restricted supplies in spot markets.
Speculations of lower output this year due to reduced plantation area in leading cultivating regions supported the upside.
