Turmeric prices weakened by Rs 24 to Rs 4,266 per quintal in futures trade today on increased supplies in the spot market against subdued demand.
Expectations of a bumper crop this year also dampened the sentiment in turmeric futures.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, the April contract for turmeric declined by Rs 24, or 0.56%, to Rs 4,266 per quintal, with an open interest of 21,370 lots.
The May contract weakened by Rs 20, or 0.46%, to Rs 4,346 per quintal in 14,470 lots.
Analysts said besides increased supplies in the spot market, subdued demand, mainly helped turmeric prices to trade lower at futures market.
