Unabated selling in the market has forced the Sensex slip deeper into red. The index is now down 282 points at 14,396.
SBI has slumped 4.5% to Rs 1,381. HDFC Bank has shed 3.5% at Rs 1,194, and ICICI Bank has dropped 2.5% to Rs 661. HDFC has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 2,269.
NTPC and DLF have tumbled 3.7% each to Rs 177 and Rs 491, respectively.
BHEL has shed 3.3% at Rs 1,678. Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance Infrastructure have plunged 3% each to Rs 166 and Rs 980, respectively.
Hindustan Unilever has dropped 2.6% to Rs 236. ONGC and Reliance Communications have declined over 2% each to Rs 1,012 and Rs 406, respectively.
Grasim and Larsen & Toubro are down 2% each at Rs 1,990 and Rs 2,662, respectively.
The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,417 stocks traded so far, 1,541 have declined, 812 have advanced and 64 are unchanged.
