The market consolidated its gains and FIIs seemed to have bought in the cash and futures markets. Sensex was up 4.95% at close, the Instanex FII index was close behind, up 4.68% at 197.67, followed by the Instanex Retail 15 portfolio that was up 4.66%, the Instanex DII 15 portfolio (+4.29%), Nifty (+3.89%), the Instanex Top 15 portfolio (+3.13%) and the Instanex Promoter 15 portfolio (+2.53%).
Of the 15 components of the Index, 13 gained while two lost. The main gainers were ICICI Bank (+8.60%; weight 6.76%), HDFC (+7.53%; weight 12.42%) and L&T (+6.76%; weight 2.65%) while losers were NTPC (-2.04%; weight 3.07%) and Sun Pharma (-0.36%; weight 2.14%).

The Sensex is close behind, up 3.53%, followed by the Instanex DII 15 portfolio that is up 3.33%, the Instanex Retail 15 portfolio (+3.28%), Nifty (+2.57%), the Instanex Top 15 portfolio (+2.18%) and the Instanex Promoter 15 portfolio (+1.53%).
Of the 15 components of the Index, 14 have gained and while just NTPC (-2.07%; weight 3.10%) is down. The main gainers are ICICI Bank (+8.87%; weight 6.85%), HDFC (+5.74%; weight 12.34%), L&T (+4.77%; weight 2.63%) and Infosys (+4.47%; weight 13.16%).

On the back of strong global cues, the Instanex FII index has shot up 2.63% at 1000 hrs. Both FIIs and DIIs seem to be driving the market higher and the Instanex DII 15 portfolio is up 2.39%. Sensex is the top performer, up 2.75% and Nifty is up 2.24%.

The INSTANEX FII INDEX™ tracks the price performance of the portfolio of listed Indian equity shares owned by foreign institutional investors (FIIs). The Index comprises the top 15 companies by value of FII holdings subject to (a) Stock future listed in India, (b) Restriction of company weight to 20%, industry to 30% and principal shareholder to 30%. Index weights are based on adjusted market value of holdings. The Index is adjusted for all corporate actions, including bonus, split and rights. Reviews are conducted quarterly and companies are deleted from the Index if they are not among the top 20 FII holdings. The base date is September 30, 2003 (=100).
