Upmove continues; breadth fairly positive

The Sensex is now up 433 points at 14,224.

The NSE Nifty is up 109 points at 4,299.

The Sensex after opening with a positive gap of 215 points continues to display strength today. The index is now up over 400 points in early noon trades. The market breadth is also fairly positive with advancing shares beating declines in nearly 3:1 ratio.

Out of 2,390 stocks traded so far, 1,713 have advanced, 612 have declined and 65 are unchanged.

HDFC, Tata Steel and HDFC Bank have soared 6% each to Rs 2,235, Rs 620 and Rs 1,090, respectively.

ICICI Bank and Reliance Infrastructure have surged 4.7% each to Rs 636 and Rs 950, respectively.

 

BHEL and Bharti Airtel have rallied around 4% each to Rs 1,658 and Rs 809, respectively.

Reliance Communications, SBI and Ranbaxy have advanced around 3.5% each to Rs 508, Rs 1,367 and Rs 491, respectively.

Wipro has gained 3.3% at Rs 416. Satyam, Grasim and Tata Power have moved up over 3% each to Rs 380, Rs 1,844 and Rs 1,075, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates, DLF and ACC are up nearly 3% each at Rs 158, Rs 485 and Rs 585, respectively.

NTPC has dropped 4% to Rs 171. ITC has slipped 1.5% to Rs 187.
