The Sensex is now up 465 points at 14,256.
The NSE Nifty is up 121 points at 4,311.
HDFC has soared nearly 8% to Rs 2,271. Tata Steel and Reliance Infrastructure have surged 6.5% each to Rs 622 and Rs 966, respectively.
HDFC Bank has rallied 6% to Rs 1,090. Wipro, ICICI Bank and BHEL have gained 5% each at Rs 423, Rs 637 and Rs 1,670, respectively.
Tata Power and SBI have moved up 4.8% each to Rs 1,094 and Rs 1,384, respectively.
Bharti Airtel has gained 4.3% at Rs 812. Reliance Communications and Reliance have advanced 4% each to Rs 511 and Rs 2,168, respectively.
NTPC has shed 3.7% at Rs 172. ITC is down 1.5% at Rs 187.
Out of 2,541 stocks traded so far, 1,797 have advanced, 670 have declined and 74 are unchanged.
