US indices end firm, VSNL soars 6%

US indices staged a smart recovery in late trades on the back of news that showed economy continued to grow at a decent pace. While the Dow Jones advanced 57 points to 10,637, the Nasdaq added 10 points to 2,186.

Barring Infosys and HDFC Bank, other Indian floats ended in the green. Satyam and Wipro were up 2% each at $28.68 and $20.54 respectively, while Infosys lost a per cent to $71.91.

VSNL scaled up 5.88% to $18.90, while ICICI Bank, Dr. Reddy's, Tata Motors and MTNL moved up in a range of 1-3%.
