US indices end firm, VSNL spurts 4%

Backed by strong earnings report and mild inflation readings, the US indices ended firm on Tuesday. While the Dow Jones advanced 56 points to 10,127, the Nasdaq moved up 19 points to 1,932.

Indian ADRs, barring select tech majors, finished with impressive gains yesterday. VSNL soared 4.59% to $8.88, while HDFC Bank shot up 3% to $43.20. ICICI Bank, Dr. Reddy's and MTNL also ended in the green at $19.45, $16.48 and $6.30, respectively. Tata Motors, however, finished weak at $9.74.

Among tech ADRS, Infosys lost 1.63% to $60.17 and Wipro was down a notch at $18. Satyam, however, was up a per cent at $18.
