US indices end mixed, HDFC Bank gains 4%

US indices ended on a mixed note, after a strong rally tapered off towards the close with tech majors suffering major brunt. While the Dow Jones gained 16 points to 10,483, the Nasdaq slipped nine points to close at 2,067.

Indian floats registered decent gains, with select ADRs posting losses yesterday. Infosys, Satyam and Wipro finished a tad higher each at $72.20, $25.12 and $21.62, respectively.

HDFC Bank soared 4.44% to $44, while VSNL jumped 3.27% to $10.10. ICICI Bank gained 2.71% to $21.60 and MTNL was up 1.69% at $6.61. Dr. Reddy's and Tata Motors, however, ended weak at $16.49 and $10, respectively.
