US markets edge up on energy shares

US markets gained more than a per cent as energy stocks gained after crude prices hit $65 a barrel.

The Dow moved up 105 points (1%) to 8,404. The Nasdaq added 20 points (1%) to 1,752.

Indian ADRs were mostly up.

ICICI Bank and Tata Motors surged 5% each to $30.74 and $10.11, respectively. Sterlite rallied 4.5% to $12.6.

HDFC Bank, Wipro and Infosys gained 2.5% each to $97.18, $11.55 and $33.38, respectively.

Satyam advanced 2% to $2.18. Dr Reddy's and Patni Computers were also up.

On the other hand, Genpact slipped 2.5% to $10.19. MTNL declined 1.5% to $4.28.

 

Tata Communications was flat at $20.91.
