US markets end higher; Tata Motors down 4%

US stocks increased on Friday as Procter & Gamble and major home builders advanced on positive brokerage comments and investors bet the economic recovery will be strong enough to sustain corporate profits.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 36 points (0.37%) at 9,820. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up three points(0.26%) at 1,068. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up six points (0.29%) at 2,133.

The Indian ADRs ended on a negative note. Tata Motors decreased 3.5% to $12.85. Tata Communications and MTNL declined 2.5% each to $19.84 and $3.67, respectively. Wipro was down 1% at $16.89.

Dr Reddys on the other hand added 3.5% to $18.1 and Genpact was up 1% at $12.
