US markets end -ve; Indian ADRs slip too

US markets retreated from 12-month highs on Tuesday as disappointing housing and inflation data prompted investors to book recent profit.

Dow Jones industrial average dropped 50.71 points( 0.50%)  to end at 10,041.48. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 13 points (0.59%) to close at 2,163.

The Indian ADRs ended on a negative note. HDFC Bank shed around 3% to $121.96. and Dr Reddys slipped 1.5% to $20.06.

ICICI Bank was down over 1% at $40.72.

The other ADRs like Tata Communications, Tata Motors, Wipro, Sterlite and Genpact were down below 1% each.

MTNL on the other hand gained 3.5% at $3.63.
