US mkts end firm, Infosys jumps 4%

After witnessing steep slide last week, US markets made a strong opening on Monday amid firmness in retail and financial sectors. While the Dow Jones scaled up 1.11% (up 112 pts) to 10,252, the Nasdaq rose 18 points to close at 1,994.

Indian floats, too, traded actively on the US bourses. Infosys jumped 4.18% to $62.83, while Satyam and Wipro were up a per cent each at $22.43 and $18.95, respectively.

Tata Motors moved up 3.52% to $10.30, and ICICI Bank gained 2.46% to $19.65.  Dr, Reddy's and VSNL were up nearly 2% each at $15.58 and $9.45, respectively. While MTNL was up a per cent at $6.12, HDFC Bank ended unchanged at $41.80.
