US mkts end mixed; techs slump, VSNL soars 15%

US indices ended on a mixed note. While the Dow Jones lost six points to 10,514, the Nasdaq added eight points to 2,143.

Indian ADRs, particularly tech floats, were battered today. Infosys tumbled 6.85% to $72.50. While Satyam dropped 5.78% to $25.90, Wipro shed 3.72% to $20.70.

HDFC Bank lost 2.65% to $48.49, and Dr. Reddy's dipped 2.18% to $17.46. VSNL, however, zoomed 14.82% to $15, while Tata Motors advanced 3.6% to $10.65. MTNL jumped 3% to $7.21.
