The shares of BPL and Videocon International surged today on the back of favourable judgement from the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) last week.

BPL moved up by 14.08 per cent to Rs 68.40 amid a volume of 9.82 lakh shares. It hit an intraday high of Rs 70.50 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). Videocon, too, rose by 16 per cent to Rs 40.80 amid a volume of 20.17 lakh shares. It hit an intraday high of Rs 41.35.

The SAT has set aside the orders of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) banning the Videocon, for 3 years, and BPL, for four years, from accessing the capital markets for manipulating their scrips in 1998.
