Volatile markets flat in noon trades

The markets have slipped in a choppy late noon due to possible unwinding pressures on the last day of the November derivatives series. The Sensex is quoting at 19426, lower by 33 points and the Nifty is at 5842, down 23 points.

CBI has alleged that the bank officials arrested also gathered confidential business information from financial institutions and received bribes from private financial services companies acting as mediators and facilitators of corporate loans.

PNB has nosedived by 8.2% at Rs 1161 and is the top loser on the NSE after being one of those named by the CBI in connection with the bribe-for-loans scandal that has rocked the financial industry. Suzlon has shed 5.3% atv Rs 47 and Sail has shed 4.6% at Rs 170.

 

On the other hand, the information technology stocks are looking good on account of the weakening rupee. Infosys has jumped by 3% at Rs 3088 to emerge as the top gainer on the NSE. Among the other IT pivotals, TCS has jumped by 2.2% at Rs 1027 and Wipro has gained 1.8% at Rs 417.
