Volatile opening, Sensex down 5 pts

The Sensex opened 13 points lower at 6,485 and slipped to an early low of 6,470 amid weakness in select old and new economy stocks. While the index bounced back into the green with a small gain, it has currently slipped back into the red with a loss of five points at 6,493.

Reliance has dropped nearly 2% (Rs 9) to Rs 514, While ITC is up a notch at Rs 1,299, HLL is up a rupee at Rs 145.

While Reliance Energy has slipped a per cent (Rs 5) to Rs 525, ONGC is down Rs 4 at Rs 853.

SBI is trading weaker by Rs 3 at Rs 605.

Grasim and Gujarat Ambuja are trading in the green at Rs 1,290 and Rs 392, respectively.

Infosys is up Rs 3 at Rs 2,068 after a weak opening.has opened weak at Rs 2,060 - down Rs 5. While Wipro is down Rs 2 at Rs 755, Satyam is up a tad at Rs 409.

Hero Honda has lost 1.34% (Rs 7) to Rs 541. While Bharti is down a rupee at Rs 207, HPCL has clocked a per cent gain (Rs 4) to Rs 389.

HDFC Bank is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 505.
