The Sensex is quoting at 16612, higher by 40 points and the Nifty is at 4977, up seven points .

Volatile markets are trading in the green at this moment. The Sensex is now up 93 points at 16,665. Nifty is up 21 points at 4991.
Markets had turned volatile in mid-morning trades as Asian markets fell. The Sensex touched a high of 16,697 and a low of 16,571.
BSE TecK index has gained 1.2% suddenly and is now at 3,125. Auto and oil indices have jumped 1% each. However the metal and power index are marginally in red.
Reliance Communications has jumped 5.7% to Rs 147. ONGC has gained 2.8% at Rs 1177.
Bharti Airtel has added 2.5% to Rs 263. Reliance Infrastructure and Hero Honda have advanced 2.2% each. Mahindra & Mahidnra is up 1.7% at Rs 574.
L&T, Maruti Suzuki, SBI and Tata Motors are the other major gainers today.
On the other hand, Tata Power has dropped 2.6% to Rs 1226. Wipro and Jindal Steel has dropped 1.2% each to Rs 649 and Rs 624, respectively.
Hindalco, DLF and HDFC Bank are the other losers.
Cement stocks have jumped on a healthy growth in sales. Ambuja Cements has gained 2.6% to Rs 110. ACC has added 1% to Rs 827. Among other cement stocks, Mangalam Cement, India Cement and Prism Cement gained substantially.
BSE market breadth is positive. Out of 2750 stocks traded, 55% have advanced while 41% have advanced.
